The Matsu Miners (17-4) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Alaska Goldpanners (8-11), recording a 9-1 victory on Saturday at Hermon Brothers Field.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Matsu Miners left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Vance Vizcaino and a two-run double by Matt Diorio in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Vizcaino and an RBI single by Diorio during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Matsu Miners.

Diorio racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Matsu Miners.

Zebastian Valenzuela pitched lights out for the Matsu Miners. The Alaska Goldpanners managed just two hits off of Valenzuela, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.

Eli Morgan recorded his fourth win of the year for the Matsu Miners. He allowed one run over six innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered eight hits.

Dillon Moran ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked two and struck out four.
