A walk-off single from Levi Ashmore brought home the winning run for the Valley Center (KS) D Dawgs (1-1) in a 6-5 victory over the Everett (WA) Merchants (0-2) in 11 innings at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Sunday.

The Everett (WA) Merchants couldn't slow down Ashmore, who paced the Valley Center (KS) D Dawgs with five hits. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second, sixth, eighth, and eleventh innings.

The Everett (WA) Merchants had no answer for Landon Wilson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Everett (WA) Merchants managed just two hits off of Wilson, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out five during his four innings of work.

Gunnar Swanson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
