A nine-run explosion in the seventh inning spurred the Regina Red Sox (3-0) to a 16-2 win over the Yorkton Cardinals (0-3) at Currie Field on Saturday.

The Regina Red Sox scored in the seventh on an RBI double by Brian Frazier, an RBI single by Jordan Schulz, , an error, an RBI single by Rob Hogenkamp, and a home run by Frazier.

Frazier racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Regina Red Sox.

Denver Diefenbach struck out eight, paving the way for a the Regina Red Sox win. Diefenbach allowed two earned runs on seven hits and three walks over eight innings.

Austin Drummonds went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Yorkton Cardinals. He singled in the fourth and eighth innings.

Jeff Pool (0-1) took the loss for the Yorkton Cardinals. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked one and struck out 10.
