Katelyn Heppner was cold coming off the bench, but Heppner warmed up quickly as Heppner stroked a key pinch-hit single in the two to lead the Manitoba (1-1) to a 26-12 win over the British Columbia (0-2) on Friday at Stade Arvida.

With the Manitoba trailing by one in the second inning, Heppner came to the plate and singled.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 38 total runs and 36 hits during the game. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

Veronica Wong (0-1) took the loss for the British Columbia. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.

The Manitoba pounded the British Columbia pitching, as seven hitters combined for 17 hits, 14 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
