Great game from the Carolina Vipers' Speakman not enough in 9-7 loss to the Pineville Pioneers

The Carolina Vipers (1-3) failed to take advantage of Ed Speakman's effort at the plate on Saturday, losing 9-7 to the Pineville Pioneers (2-1) in seven innings at East Meck High School.

Speakman hit two home runs for the Carolina Vipers. Speakman went 2-3 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Speakman homered in the first and fourth innings.

Edgar Lebron Jr. racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Pineville Pioneers. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the seventh innings.

Austin Lawerence recorded his first win of the year for the Pineville Pioneers. He allowed two runs over 2 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Luke Watts ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
