The Gaithersburg Giants (4-2) beat the Rockville Express (3-3) 5-2 on Thursday at Montgomery College behind Brandon Grove, who had two extra base hits.

The Rockville Express had no answer for Brandon Estrain, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Rockville Express managed just one hit off of the the Gaithersburg Giants' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Cody Eckerson was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Gaithersburg Giants batters and allowing two runs.

Devon Mahoney put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Rockville Express. He doubled in the second and fourth innings.

Jorge Flores got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Flores struck out three, walked none and gave up one hit.

Ryan Wagner couldn't get it done on the hill for the Rockville Express, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.

The Gaithersburg Giants were sparked by Brady Acker and Grove, who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs.
