Evan VanSumeren went 4-4 at the plate, helping the Haysville (KS) Aviators (1-0) to an 8-3 victory over the El Dorado (KS) Broncos (0-1) on Friday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

He singled in the third and fifth innings, tripled in the sixth inning, and doubled in the eighth inning.

Max Hogan was solid at the plate for the El Dorado (KS) Broncos. Hogan went 3-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, sixth, and ninth innings.

Lance Spongberg improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Haysville (KS) Aviators. He allowed two runs over seven innings. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered eight hits.

Jeremy McGowan was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
