Zachary Thompson went 4-4 at the plate, sparking the Statesville Owls (22-19) to a 7-3 victory over the Carolina Vipers (13-26) on Wednesday at East Mecklenburg HS.

Colby Dishmond had an impressive outing against the Carolina Vipers' lineup. Dishmond held the Carolina Vipers hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Jace Whitley reached base three times. He singled in the fifth and eighth innings.

Lucas Clarke recorded his third win of the year for the Statesville Owls. He allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out two, walked five and surrendered two hits.

Dillon Hardy couldn't get it done on the mound for the Carolina Vipers, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out none.
