Troy Herterick held the Ballantyne Smokies (20-12) scoreless for six innings to boost the Pineville Pioneers (15-16) to a 2-0 victory.

Herterick allowed four hits, no walks and struck out four.

Andy Austin racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Pineville Pioneers. He singled in the first, fourth, and sixth innings.

Despite the loss, the Ballantyne Smokies' Francesco Scudiero dominated the Pineville Pioneers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out six.

Scudiero (2-2) took the loss for the Ballantyne Smokies.
