Monday was a great day for Mitchell Price, as he hit two home runs to carry the Ballantyne Smokies (7-4) to an 11-6 victory over the Lake Norman Copperheads (7-6) at Ardrey Kell HS.
Weston Clarke had an impressive outing against the Lake Norman Copperheads' lineup. The Lake Norman Copperheads managed just two hits off of Clarke, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his three innings of work.
Josh Genthe got a hit in each of his one at bats. He singled in the ninth inning.
Ben Taylor improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Ballantyne Smokies. He allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. Taylor struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Chandler Gardner (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
Nick Boswell, Price and Dalton Eisenbath helped lead the Ballantyne Smokies. They combined for six hits and seven RBIs.
