An excellent effort by Jared Poche carried the Harwich Mariners (12-6) to a 7-3 win over the Chatham Anglers (8-9) on Monday at Veterans Field.
Poche kept the Chatham Anglers off the board during his seven innings of work. Poche struck out seven and allowed one walk and three hits.
Ian Happ racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Harwich Mariners. He doubled in the third inning and homered in the ninth inning.
Jeff Burke pitched lights out for the Chatham Anglers. Burke held the Harwich Mariners hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out four.
Andrew Chin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
