The Schaumburg Boomers need walk-off double to beat the Normal CornBelters, 9-8

Story by Narrative Science.

A walk-off double from Michael Valadez brought home the winning run for the Schaumburg Boomers (61-35) in a 9-8 victory over the Normal CornBelters (48-47) at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium on Thursday.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 17 total runs and 26 hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were eight pitchers used in the game.

Tony Delmonico racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the ninth inning.

Cal Bowling got the win, running his season record to 9-7. Bowling struck out none, walked one and gave up one hit.

Stephen Frey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
