An outstanding effort by Matt Sergey carried the Washington Wild Things (52-34) to a 6-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies (47-40) on Sunday at CONSOL Energy Park.

The Washington Wild Things blew out the Gateway Grizzlies thanks to 12 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Washington Wild Things scored two runs in the eighth on the Washington Wild Things scored in the eighth on a solo home run by William Beckwith and a solo home run by Andrew Heck.

Ryan Kresky had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits. He doubled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Sergey got the win, running his season record to 2-0. Sergey struck out nine, walked none and gave up no hits.

Daniel Cropper couldn't get it done on the mound for the Gateway Grizzlies, taking a loss. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

The Washington Wild Things were sparked by Heck and Kresky, who teamed up for six hits and five RBIs.
