The Schaumburg Boomers (46-31) and the Evansville Otters (45-30) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-1 win at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
Michael Valadez racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Schaumburg Boomers. He doubled in the eighth inning.
The Schaumburg Boomers got the win thanks in large part to Eddie Cody's dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Cody allowed one earned run on seven hits and one walk over 7 2/3 innings.
Jose Velez had an impressive outing against the Schaumburg Boomers' lineup. Velez gave up just three hits, allowed two earned runs, walked five and struck out four during his six innings of work.
Velez couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Evansville Otters, taking a loss.
