The Washington Wild Things uses big sixth inning to beat the Traverse City Beach Bums, 8-2

The Washington Wild Things (46-27) took down the Traverse City Beach Bums (29-44) 8-2 on Saturday at CONSOL Energy Park after slamming the Traverse City Beach Bums with five runs in the sixth inning.

The Washington Wild Things scored in the sixth on an RBI double by Daniel Poma, a two-run double by Scott Kalamar, an RBI single by C.J. Beatty, and an RBI single by Garrett Rau.

The Traverse City Beach Bums were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Traverse City Beach Bums were ahead until the fifth inning, but the Washington Wild Things would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on an RBI double by Beatty.

Poma put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things.

Shawn Blackwell got the win, running his season record to 9-4. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Casey Delgado (6-4) took the loss for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out 10.

Poma, Beatty and Jim Vahalik helped lead the Washington Wild Things. They combined for nine hits and four RBIs.
