The Schaumburg Boomers (40-27) and the Joliet Slammers (26-41) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Schaumburg Boomers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out an 8-7 win at Silver Cross Field.
Bobby Martin racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He doubled in the second and fifth innings and singled in the seventh inning.
Matt Weaver racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Joliet Slammers. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth and ninth innings.
Eddie Cody got the win, running his season record to 3-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. Cody struck out three, walked none and gave up nine hits.
Andrew Busby was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out four.
