The Washington Wild Things take out the Normal CornBelters with help from Poma, 5-3

Daniel Poma collected three hits, helping the Washington Wild Things (20-11) to a 5-3 victory over the Normal CornBelters (13-16) on Friday at CONSOL Energy Park.

He tripled in the second inning and singled in the first and fourth innings.

Mike Schwartz got a hit in each of his two at bats. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Charley Short had an impressive outing against the Washington Wild Things' lineup. The Washington Wild Things managed just one hit off of the the Normal CornBelters' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Shawn Blackwell recorded his third win of the year for the Washington Wild Things. He allowed two runs over six innings. Blackwell struck out one, walked three and gave up four hits.

Drew Provence was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
