McChesney's double propels the Schaumburg Boomers past the Frontier Greys, 9-6

The Schaumburg Boomers (7-9) jumped on the Frontier Greys (3-14) early on their way to a 9-6 win on Tuesday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, scoring five runs in the first inning.

The Schaumburg Boomers scored in the first on a two-run double by Ryan McChesney, an RBI single by Denver Chavez, an RBI double by Brian McConkey, and an RBI single by Ty Nelson.

McConkey had two extra-base hits for the Schaumburg Boomers.

The Frontier Greys had no answer for Dexter Price, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Price held the Frontier Greys hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Logan Pierce boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Frontier Greys. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Anthony Smith improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered seven hits.

Clint Wright (2-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.

The Schaumburg Boomers' McConkey, Jordan Dean, McChesney and Mark Nelson combined for seven hits and five RBIs.
