An outstanding effort by Jon Rand spurred the Medicine Hat Mavericks (23-18) to a 6-0 win over the Okotoks Dawgs (19-21) on Wednesday at Athletic Park.

Rand held the Okotoks Dawgs scoreless for eight innings. Rand struck out four and allowed no walks and five hits.

The offense exploded for the the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the fourth. In the inning the Medicine Hat Mavericks scored five runs. The Medicine Hat Mavericks scored in the fourth on , a two-run double by Brody Hawkins, and a solo home run by CJ DeDeaux.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks' Sheldon Daquioag was perfect at the dish, going 4-4. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.

Travis McDonald (2-1) took the loss for the Okotoks Dawgs. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out five.
