The Melville Millionaires (11-18) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 4-2 ballgame against the Swift Current Indians (18-13) on Friday at Pirie Field.
While the Melville Millionaires led until the fourth inning, the Swift Current Indians worked their way back and took the lead on a groundout by Justin Lee.
The Melville Millionaires' lineup had no answer for Zach Manley. Manley held the Melville Millionaires hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Alex Webb baffled the Swift Current Indians, striking out 15 batters. Webb allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk over seven innings.
Juan Pizarro improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Swift Current Indians. He allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered two hits.
Webb ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
