The Regina Red Sox (19-11) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 8-4 to the Swift Current Indians (16-13) on Thursday.

A two-run single by Eric Sams gave the Swift Current Indians the lead in the seventh inning.

Eros Modena racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Swift Current Indians. He singled in the first and fifth innings.

Fernando Pena struck out 12 hitters en route to the the Swift Current Indians win. Pena allowed four earned runs on eight hits and two walks over 7 2/3 innings.

Steve Hazel racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Regina Red Sox. He homered in the third inning.

Tyler Shumpert (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
