A magnificent effort by Ryan Johnson lifted the Weyburn Beavers (8-14) to a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Prospects on Saturday at Telus Field.
The Weyburn Beavers relied on Johnson to eat up innings en route to the win. Johnson allowed no earned runs, three hits and three walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.
Brenden Wiun baffled the Weyburn Beavers, striking out eight batters. Wiun allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks over eight innings.
Spencer Mallonee reached base two times. He tripled in the ninth inning.
Bryce Shea couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Edmonton Prospects (12-15), taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
