The Regina Red Sox uses big seventh inning to beat the Medicine Hat Mavericks, 9-3

The Regina Red Sox (7-4) beat the Medicine Hat Mavericks (8-4) 9-3 in seven innings on Sunday at Athletic Park after a five-run explosion in the seventh inning.

The Regina Red Sox scored in the seventh on a two-run double by Steve Hazel, a double by Pearce Richardson, a groundout by Brian Frazier, a single by Dylan Blaha, a two-run single by Hans Ask, and a double by Jordan Schulz.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Medicine Hat Mavericks were ahead until the sixth inning, but the Regina Red Sox would not be denied the win, taking the lead back on a solo home run by Ask.

The Regina Red Sox's Ask was perfect at the dish, going 2-2.

Justin Blue picked up the win for the Regina Red Sox. Blue allowed three earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Kenton Schroter was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
