An awesome effort by Jake Simmerman lifted the Okotoks Dawgs (2-9) to a 14-3 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (7-3) on Wednesday at Athletic Park.
Simmerman racked up seven RBIs on three hits for the Okotoks Dawgs. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the fifth innings.
Jon Richards kept the Medicine Hat Mavericks off the board during his seven innings of work. Richards allowed two hits, one walk and struck out four.
Everything was working at the plate for the the Okotoks Dawgs in the fifth. In the inning the Okotoks Dawgs scored nine runs. The Okotoks Dawgs scored in the fifth on a two-run home run by Simmerman, an RBI double by Zachiary Johnson, a two-run single by Mark Riendeau, and a home run by Simmerman.
Jared Welander (0-1) took the loss for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
