Rob Youngblood collected three hits, helping the West Virginia Miners (30-18) to a 9-5 victory over the Richmond RiverRats (17-28) on Wednesday at McBride Stadium.
He singled in the second, seventh, and ninth innings.Dalton Thompson brought the heat against the Richmond RiverRats during his outing. The Richmond RiverRats managed just one hit off of Thompson, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his 3 1/3 innings of work.
Brendon Neel racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Richmond RiverRats. He homered in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Even though Cody Smith allowed five runs over four innings he still recorded the victory, his fourth of the season. Smith struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.
Reed Evans ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked three and struck out four.
The West Virginia Miners easily handled the Richmond RiverRats pitching as six hitters combined for 12 hits, seven RBIs and nine runs scored.
