The Quincy Gems (10-5) pounded the Springfield Sliders (2-13) on Sunday 12-4 at Quincy Stadium.

Matt Marek had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the second inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Will Schneider led the Springfield Sliders' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the first and sixth innings.

Brendon Allen improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Quincy Gems. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered five hits.

Blake Thomas ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked four and struck out one.

The Quincy Gems easily handled the Springfield Sliders pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 10 RBIs and nine runs scored.
