The Hannibal Cavemen (6-5) didn't put up much of a fight on Monday, as the Quincy Gems (7-4) cruised to a blowout 9-1 win at Quincy Stadium.

The Quincy Gems scored four runs in the fifth on the Quincy Gems scored in the fifth on , a double by Brett Peel, , an RBI single by Dominic Miles, and a groundout by Ryan Light.

Adam McGinnis racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Quincy Gems.

The Hannibal Cavemen had no answer for Will Spitzfaden, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Spitzfaden held the Hannibal Cavemen hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five.

Joseph Mortillaro improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Quincy Gems. He allowed one run over five innings. Mortillaro struck out three, walked five and gave up four hits.

Josh Thomas ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
