The Hannibal Cavemen (3-1) and the Danville Dans (1-4) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the Hannibal Cavemen capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 9-5 win at Clemens Field.
Christian Cavaness racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Hannibal Cavemen. He singled in the second and seventh innings and tripled in the eighth inning.
Despite the loss, the Danville Dans' Bryan Baker dominated the Hannibal Cavemen's batters, giving up zero runs and striking out six.
Justin Hertzmann got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Hertzmann struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Mark Hendrick was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in three innings, walked five and struck out three.
