An ace performance by Jared Miller led the Orleans Firebirds (2-1) to a 2-0 win over the Harwich Mariners on Thursday at Eldredge Park.
Miller held the Harwich Mariners (1-2) scoreless for seven innings. Miller allowed three hits, two walks and struck out eight.
Will Fulmer led the Orleans Firebirds' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Despite the loss, the Harwich Mariners' Aaron Bummer dominated the Orleans Firebirds' batters, giving up one run and striking out seven.
Bummer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
