The Chugiak Chinooks (1-2) beat the Matsu Miners (2-2) 10-5 on Thursday at Loretta French Field behind Jake Murray, who had two extra base hits.
He homered in the fourth innings and tripled in the ninth inning.Caleb Dirks's six strikeouts helped the Chugiak Chinooks to the victory. Dirks allowed one earned run, three hits and two walks over seven innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the Matsu Miners' A.J. Simcox. Simcox went 2-4 and scored two runs. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Trevor Bettencourt couldn't get it done on the mound for the Matsu Miners, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
