Three first-inning runs helped the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (11-12) to a 5-2 win over the Brewster Whitecaps (8-16) at Stony Brook on Friday.

Andrew Daniel racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He singled in the first and fifth innings.

Samuel Coonrod kept contact to a minimum, striking out three the Brewster Whitecaps batters. Coonrod allowed no earned runs on five hits and one walk over five innings.

Frankie Vanderka ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
