The Southern Maryland Nationals (2-1) beat the Baltimore Redbirds (3-2) 6-2 on Tuesday at Calvert Hall HS behind Trevor Freeman, who drove in three runs.
He singled in the second and seventh innings and doubled in the eighth inning.The Baltimore Redbirds couldn't get anything going so long as Sean Poppen was on the hill. The Baltimore Redbirds managed just one hit off of Poppen, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out two during his 5 2/3 innings of work.
Austin Solecitto ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
