Graham Ramos went 1-2 and hit a home run as the Ballantyne Smokies (13-10) took home a 1-0 victory over the Statesville Owls (10-11) in seven innings at Ardrey Kell HS on Monday.

The Statesville Owls had no answer for Stephen Vaughan, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Vaughan gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his four innings of work.

Clint Howell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run.
