Taylor hits and pitches the Newfoundland and Labrador to 5-3 victory

Story by Narrative Science.

An impressive two-way performance from Travis Taylor led the Newfoundland and Labrador (1-0) to a 5-3 win Saturday over the Prince Edward Island, as Taylor came up huge at the dish and on the rubber.

The Newfoundland and Labrador's Taylor was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth inning.

The Prince Edward Island (0-1) couldn't get anything going so long as Taylor was on the hill. Taylor gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his two innings of work.

Matt Murphy recorded his first win of the year for the Newfoundland and Labrador. He allowed three runs over five innings. Murphy struck out five, walked three and gave up four hits.

Tyson Blue (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked six, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
