The Cincinnati Steam (24-16) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 2-1 to the Licking County Settlers (24-16) on Friday.

The Licking County Settlers took the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Brandon Kregel.

Kregel racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Licking County Settlers. He homered in the fourth inning.

Scott Effross brought the heat against the Cincinnati Steam during his outing. Effross held the Cincinnati Steam hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Despite the loss, the Cincinnati Steam's Brian Korte dominated the Licking County Settlers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out eight.

Connor Murphy improved to 4-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Licking County Settlers. He allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings. Murphy struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.

Korte (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher.
