An outstanding effort by Cameron Vieaux spurred the So. Ohio Copperheads (24-15) to an 8-0 win over the Grand Lake Mariners (20-18) on Friday at Montgomery Field.

Vieaux kept contact to a minimum, striking out 11 the Grand Lake Mariners batters. The So. Ohio Copperheads' pitcher gave up just one hit over nine shutout innings.

The So. Ohio Copperheads blew out the Grand Lake Mariners thanks to 15 hits, including zero extra base hits. The So. Ohio Copperheads scored two runs in the seventh on an RBI single by Colton Turner and a wild pitch.

Mike Accardi went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the So. Ohio Copperheads. He singled in the third and seventh innings and doubled in the fifth and eighth innings.

Alex Mercer was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
