The Lexington Hustlers (12-14) and the Xenia Scouts (10-17) both had scoring chances on Friday, but it was the Lexington Hustlers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at Grady Field.
David Simmons was solid at the plate for the Lexington Hustlers. Simmons went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Steven Shunk pitched lights out for the Lexington Hustlers. The Xenia Scouts managed just two hits off of Shunk, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his three innings of work.
Clayton Brandt paced the Xenia Scouts at the plate. Brandt went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and tripled in the seventh inning.
Shaun Meyer recorded his first win of the year for the Lexington Hustlers. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered seven hits.
Shane Armstrong was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 7 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
