Three first-inning runs helped the Lake Erie Monarchs (6-16) to a 3-2 win over the Hamilton Joes (10-14) at Siena Heights University on Sunday.
Matt Rodgers was hot from the plate for the Lake Erie Monarchs. Rodgers went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the eighth inning.
Michael Dolloff improved to 3-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Erie Monarchs. He allowed two runs over five innings. Dolloff struck out three, walked four and gave up three hits.
Even Bell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
