Jake Mangler brought home the go-ahead run to give the Hannibal Cavemen (4-5) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Hannibal Cavemen hung on to beat the Quincy Gems (6-3) 5-4 on Saturday.
After Derek Fletcher reached on an error, Mangler singled, plating Fletcher.Mattingly Romanin was hot from the plate for the Hannibal Cavemen. Romanin went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.
Jake Ivory reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the sixth and ninth innings.
Kyle Kuck got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed four runs over nine innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered 12 hits.
Brandon Ley (0-1) took the loss for the Quincy Gems. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
