An awesome effort by Shane Armstrong hoisted the Xenia Scouts (5-10) to a 1-0 win in seven innings over the Grand Lake Mariners on Saturday at Montgomery Field.
The Xenia Scouts' Armstrong kept the Grand Lake Mariners (4-10) off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up seven.
Daniel Przeniczny did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Xenia Scouts, reaching base four times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the seventh inning.
Despite the loss, the Grand Lake Mariners' Alex Mercer dominated the Xenia Scouts' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.
Cory Klinger (0-3) took the loss for the Grand Lake Mariners. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run.
