The Hamilton Joes take out the Xenia Scouts with help from Teegarden, 6-1

Doug Teegarden went 2-5 and hit a home run, helping the Hamilton Joes (1-0) to a 6-1 victory over the Xenia Scouts (0-1) on Thursday at Grady Field .

He homered in the first inning and singled in the ninth inning.

The Xenia Scouts couldn't get anything going so long as Eli Martin was on the hill. Martin held the Xenia Scouts hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six.

The Hamilton Joes had no answer for Lucas Hamelink, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Hamilton Joes managed just three hits off of Hamelink, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his four innings of work.

Darrick Brilz Jr. recorded his first win of the year for the Hamilton Joes. He allowed one run over five innings. Brilz Jr. struck out five, walked two and gave up three hits.

Channing Sanders ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
