The Dayton Docs get on top of the Grand Lake Mariners early but can't hang on in 5-1 loss

The Dayton Docs (0-1) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-1 to the Grand Lake Mariners (1-0) on Thursday.

While the Dayton Docs led until the fifth inning, the Grand Lake Mariners worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run double by John Brodner.

Matthew Paculan went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Grand Lake Mariners. He singled in the third, seventh, and ninth innings.

It was a good day at the plate for the Dayton Docs' Deion Tansel. Tansel went 4-5 and scored one run. He singled in the first, second, fifth, and seventh innings.

Isaac Beller got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over four innings. Beller struck out four, walked two and gave up four hits.

Scott Sebald (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
