The Carolina Vipers (12-14) and the Lake Norman Copperheads (14-11) both had scoring chances on Monday, but it was the Carolina Vipers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 4-3 win at East Mecklenburg HS.
A bright spot for the Lake Norman Copperheads in the defeat was Blaise Whitman, who allowed only one run while striking out nine.
Hunter Hudson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Carolina Vipers. Hudson struck out none, walked none and gave up one hit.
Tim Kelly was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
