The Carolina Vipers take out the Ballantyne Smokies with help from Massey, 4-3

Daniel Massey went 2-3, sparking the Carolina Vipers (11-13) to a 4-3 victory in seven innings over the Ballantyne Smokies (12-10) on Thursday at Ardrey Kell HS.

He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Despite the loss, the Ballantyne Smokies' Matt Binder dominated the Carolina Vipers' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out six.

David Bancroft recorded his first win of the year for the Carolina Vipers. He allowed two runs over three innings. Bancroft struck out two, walked four and gave up two hits.

Sean Stephenson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
