John Mangum went 2-3 and hit a home run, helping the Ballantyne Smokies (16-10) to a 5-0 victory over the Pineville Pioneers (10-12) on Thursday at Ardrey Kell HS.
He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the sixth innings.The Pineville Pioneers couldn't get anything going as long as Cameron Hokanson was on the mound. The Pineville Pioneers managed just two hits off of Hokanson, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven during his four innings of work.
Matt Davenport (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
