An ace performance by Sean Grant carried the Statesville Owls (3-7) to a 1-0 win in seven innings over the Lake Norman Copperheads on Friday at Hopewell HS.

The Statesville Owls' Grant kept the Lake Norman Copperheads (8-5) off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four.

Joe Pistacchio was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed one run.
