The Ballantyne Smokies (6-3) and the Lake Norman Copperheads (5-4) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Ballantyne Smokies that eventually took advantage of them in a 2-1 win at Ardrey Kell HS.

The fact that the Ballantyne Smokies grouped all of their runs into the first inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

Stephen Vaughan struck out six hitters en route to the the Ballantyne Smokies win. Vaughan allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk over five innings.

Adam Huffman was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
