Three first-inning runs helped the Brewster Whitecaps (9-16) to a 3-0 win over the Harwich Mariners (13-13) at Whitehouse Field on Saturday.
A three-run double by David Armendariz delivered the runs in the first. The Brewster Whitecaps had four hits in the inning.
The Brewster Whitecaps' Dylan Toscano kept the Harwich Mariners off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out two.
AJ Reed was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
