The Schaumburg Boomers (32-27) didn't put up much of a fight on Thursday, as the Gateway Grizzlies (36-22) cruised to a blowout 10-3 win at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
A two-run double by Chris McClendon and a two-run home run by Landon Hernandez helped the Gateway Grizzlies score four runs in the eighth. The Gateway Grizzlies had three hits in the inning.
McClendon boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Gateway Grizzlies.
Tucker Jensen picked up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. Jensen allowed three earned runs, six hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.
Brian McConkey got on base three times in the game for the Schaumburg Boomers. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the second and eighth innings.
Matt Kuna (4-3) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out four.
