The Southern Illinois Miners (23-18) and the Schaumburg Boomers (23-19) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Southern Illinois Miners that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-5 win at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
Jordan Dean was hot from the plate for the Schaumburg Boomers. Dean went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the eighth inning.
Pete Perez got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Perez struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.
Preston Hatcher (1-1) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
